BOARD GAME by Lars Wagoner

Board games are great, most of us grew up playing them with friends and family,
having fun and enjoying the competitiveness. For these reasons, the English teachers
here at IES Antigua Sexi decided to celebrate a board game day.

To do this language learning activity, each class had to organize how
many games they had and how many students were needed to play.
Students  brought a wide variety of games, ranging from Cluedo to Spyfall.
Once all the groups and games were agreed on, the students were allowed
some time to learn the rules before game day, which was set about a week later.

Due to the length of most games, only an hour to play properly isn’t enough.
The solution the class agreed on was to spend the recess after class playing as well.

Once game day arrived, everyone eagerly awaited English class.
At the beginning of the period, we set up tables and chairs and all
the students began the fun… in English of course. During the course
of the class, the teacher would walk around and join in on the activities
and help some of the students. In one corner of the room a group of
students were guessing who was the murderer and in another corner a
different group was working together to solve the puzzle.

All of the students were completely immersed in the activity and had a blast!
It’s a good thing everyone decided to play during recess too, no one wanted the fun to end.

To sum up, the students at Antigua Sexi got to enjoy a few board games
and test their English skills with friends and classmates, we all had an amazing time!

Some of the games implemented were:

IKONIKUS

MYSTERIUM

CLUEDO

CODENAMES

THE FORBIDDEN ISLAND

THE GLOOM

THE WEREWOLVES
